RESIDENT FELLOWS & MENTORSHIP PROGRAMS

Haven House entry way.

A Home away from Home

The Christian student community functions as a single housekeeping unit where participants live cooperatively as a household, guided by mission-based communal living principles. This environment fosters faith-based mentoring through our residents and mentors program, enhancing the overall spiritual and social experience.

A Fellowship

Haven House serves as both a home and a Christian Study Center, operated by missionaries associated with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). This YWAM Student Centre is a nonprofit religious organization that fosters a vibrant Christian student community, offering a religious educational fellowship for university students and ministry participants. Within this setting, residents engage in a residents and mentors program that emphasizes long-term fellowship through shared meals, prayer, study, mentoring, hospitality, and spiritual formation, all within a supportive cooperative household environment.

Resident Fellows

While residency at Haven House is not a requirement for participation, those in the Christian student community who reside there tend to have a more consistent experience. Resident Fellows contribute to the living expenses at Haven House, which enhances the faith-based mentoring offered through the residents and mentors program. All Resident Fellows are Participants in the Mentor Program.

Haven House Mentor Program

It is no secret that the secular college experience often leads to isolation and confusion for Christian students.

Haven House offers an alternative by fostering a vibrant Christian student community.

The Haven House Christian Study Center provides spiritual guidance and a shared community life, with an optional residents and mentors program for those seeking a more immersive experience. The Haven House Mentor Program understands that Christian growth thrives in relationships. Each student is invited to journey alongside a guide who is mature in the Christian faith and can stand beside them in their faith journey. This relationship, akin to having a personal pastor, represents the faith-based mentoring that every growing Christian needs.

A Spiritual Growth Mentor is a seasoned Christian who walks alongside a student, providing essential support as they deepen their relationship with Jesus. Just as an Academic Preceptor aids students in their academic growth, a Spiritual Mentor assists students in navigating their spiritual journey amidst a campus shaped by diverse and often conflicting worldviews.

Not a Boarding House

Haven House does not operate as a hotel, boarding house, dormitory, transient lodging facility, or commercial rental enterprise. Rooms are exclusively available to individuals approved for participation in the Christian student community, focusing on the fellowship and educational mission of the Christian Study Center. The property is not accessible to the general public for lodging or short-term occupancy, as it serves as a supportive environment for our residents and mentors program, emphasizing faith-based mentoring.

Resident Fellows Program Fees

The total fees for the Haven House Resident Fellows with Mentor Program are $950 per month, which helps support the program materials and activities designed for our Christian student community. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Fellows can participate with the help of two $100 scholarships, reducing the total fee for both the residents and mentors program to just $750 per month.

For non-residents who wish to engage in the faith-based mentoring aspect of the Mentor Program, the fee is $100. With a $90 scholarship available, the cost is lowered to only $10 per month.

Resident Leaders

The house and ministry are overseen by resident leaders and YWAM missionaries, John & Mary, who ensure that community standards are upheld, household operations run smoothly, and program oversight is maintained. As part of the Christian student community, Resident Fellows engage in the residents and mentors program, sharing expenses and chores, thereby creating a welcoming and restful Haven House for visitors, while also benefiting from faith-based mentoring.

A Christian Study Center

The primary purpose of the residence is to foster a Christian student community through religious, educational, and community-oriented living within a shared household environment. As a Christian Study Center, Haven House provides meeting space for Christian faculty members and student leaders to conduct Bible studies, lectures, and fellowship. Additionally, Haven House features a residents and mentors program that emphasizes faith-based mentoring, supporting the growth and development of both residents and mentors. Haven House has also been accepted into the Consortium of Christian Study Centers.
